Biographical Notes
Jennifer Macklem and Kip Jones have worked together over the past 9 yrs on
a range of Public Art projects. They have completed large scale projects at
Moncton City Hall, the Calgary International Airport, the Kelowna Library,
the Surrey Firehall outside of Vancouver, Whistler Village in British
Columbia and in the town of Winfield, BC. Their work is often characterized
by its interactivity and its interest in the natural sciences; it is
designed for public involvement.
Originally from Montreal, Jennifer Macklem
completed her undergraduate studies in Paris, France, at the Ecole Nationale
Superieure des Beaux Artsz and at the Parsons School of Design.
She earned her Masters degree of Fine Arts at UQAM >and is currently residing in Sackville, New Brunswick. Her experience includes curating/directing an artist run center - the Alternator Gallery - as well
as public art projects, and an ongoing studio practice shown in gallery
exhibitions in Canada, and abroad. She is currently an assistant Professor
of Sculpture at Mount Allison University.
Kip Jones has studied Fine Arts and Architecture at various institutions in British Columbia. For ten years he operated and owned Pyramid Bronze Works, a fine arts casting facility. He is an expert in the field of bronze
casting for artists. Involved in numerous public art projects, he has also
held group and solo exhibitions, and his work can be found in private collections
in Canada and Portugal. Kip Jones is currently a sculpture technician at Mount
Allison University.
