The Four Elements

The Surrey Firehall project is titled Four Elements (1999) and consists of 3 copper panelled light boxes fixed to an external wall of the Firehall. Cut out shapes depict images relating to three basic elements: earth, fire and water and to specific geographic features of the area. The fourth element, air, is suggested through an 8ft bronze sculpture located at the entrance to the building and it features moveable, spinning parts that react to wind.
