Natural Language

The Kelowna Library sculptures are made of cast and fabricated stainless steel. Titled Natural Language (2000), the piece features a 12' spinnable mobius-like form that is also suggestive of an infinity sign. It is engraved with a selection of letters derived from world alphabets. The viewing public can spin on the Mobius form, as it turns on a large, buried bearing unit. A 15' diameter bench (the "bio-diversity bench"), shaped in a spiral, has a raised surface of animal and natural forms, and was made from stainless steel cast from lost wax and ceramic shell molds.
